Established in 1954, Cemp was among the first companies in Italy to manufacture flameproof motors. Over the years, the product range has broadened introducing flameproof motors with brake, electric pumps for printing machines, flameproof motors for Group IIC gases and for mining, non-sparking and safe area motors. In more than seventy years of activity, Cemp has created one of the most comprehensive range of electric motors for hazardous areas available today on the market:

Quality service

Cemp production and testing systems are UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certified. Cemp products have been certified by the Notified Bodies of European Commission and other important institutes.
Product certification
Since year 2000 Cemp is manufacturing flameproof electric motors certified in compliance with the European Directive ATEX (2014/34 EC) and with international norm IEC. The entire range of Cemp products is ATEX and IECEx certified. Certificates are issued by TÜV SÜD and TÜV NORD.
Applications
Cemp offers, besides the standard product, a consulting and engineering service to offer “tailor made” special motors to customer requirements. In almost seventy years of activity Cemp supplied the market with more than a million units. They work in chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants, in refineries, thermoelectric plants, mines, off-shore oil platforms, oil pipelines, gas pipelines, on board ships, printing machines and other industrial environments; wherever it is necessary to prevent from explosions and fires due to gases, powders or inflammable liquids.
Worldwide organization
Cemp is based in Italy and Germany with a domestic sales organization and a sales network in the rest of Europe and in many other countries around the World. Its wide net of agents, distributors and authorized workshops represents reliable contact points and guarantees a fast and reliable response to every request for products, consulting and assistance (complete sales network available online).
Organization
Cemp headquarter and main manufacturing facility is in Milan, Italy. 2023 sales about 31.5M€, installed capacity of 50kpcs, staff 110 people plus approximately 100 people as sub-suppliers with strong-tie relationship.

We have a dedicated team to suit the high demands and expectations placed on us by End Users and EPCs. This service extends to provide:

• Scheduling, testing and distribution of motors

Quality Assurance
With its state of the art flexible manufacturing facilities all motors receive rigorous inspection throughout their production processes to ensure compliance to strict engineering tolerances and compliance to project specification. All facilities are accredited with ISO 9001 documented quality systems.

Milestones
1954 Foundation of Cemp Snc, an artisan company into Incirano (Milan). It produces electric pumps for machine tools (P series) and general purpose electric motors (AP series).
1956 Factory transferred to Paderno Dugnano (Milan). It begins to produce IP55 electric motors under European standards IEC 72.1 and 72.2 (C series).
1970 To face competition from Eastern Europe, production is oriented on customized electric motors and brake motors (series AC).
1972 Start the production of flameproof, explosion-proof motors (series AD) according to IEC standards, certified CESI.
1977 Company transferred in the current facility of 6000 square meters. to Senago (Milan).
1979 Start the production of the flameproof, explosion-proof brake motors (series ADD).
1980 New series of pumps with explosion-proof motor for printing machines (AT series).
1986 Implementation of the flameproof, explosion-proof motors, suitable for environments with gas group IIC (ADH).
1989 Production of flameproof motors to European standards suitable for use in tunnels and mines with the possibility of the presence of coal dust and / or firedamp (ADM series).
1990 Changed the name into Cemp International S.r.l.
1991 Development and production of flameproof motors certified according to European CENELEC (Series E) groups in EEx-d, EEx-de; IIB, IIC.
1993 Production of Increased Safety motors Ex-e (EN 50014, EN 50019).
1994 Open a second manufacturing plant 800 sqm in Paderno Dugnano.
1998 The company entered a new growth phase joining a large group of private investors and change the name to Cemp SpA.
2000 Development and production of motors with shaft heights 280 and 315. Acquired Atav (now Cemp France) a French company specializing in small aluminium flameproof motors. Begins production of engines that conform to the ATEX Directive.
2002 Opening of the commercial branch in Germany, Cemp International GmbH
2006 Introduced a new range of Ex-n motors according to ATEX Directive.
2007 ABG acquired Cemp. The Group is headed by Rishi Agarwal, a young and dynamic entrepreneur who started business in the early nineties in the area of shipbuilding. Cemp Srl is owned by ABG Motors, which in turn is owned by ABG and Tano Capital, a highly respected PE fund based in Mumbai.
2008 Enlarged production capacity of Ex motors to 200 kW and Ex brake motors to 55 kW.
2011 Opened Cemp Middle East, the UAE branch in Dubai. Replaced the Paderno Dugnano plant with a double size facilities (1600 sqm) in Senago nearby main factory.
2012 Enlarged production capacity of Ex brake motors to 110 kW. Completed the IECEx certificate range extension.
2013 Further space added to stock facilities. Painting robot acquired.
2013 Acquisition from Regal Rexnord Corporation.
2014 Development and production of motors with size 315L (200 kW).
2015 Development and production of motors with size 355 (375 kW). Premium Efficiency IE3.
2016 Safe Area motors market penetration in MENA with TCA series made within Regal Factories (TerraMAX platform).
2017 Launch of TCN series, a new range of Ex ec (former Ex na) motors Premium Efficiency IE3 made within Regal Factories.
2018 Developed a new range of Ex d IE3-IE4 motors and became a NEMA UL Modification Center.
2019 Launch of IE3-IE4 explosion proof brake motors.
2020 Launch of a new Manufacturing Program of TCT (Zone 21 motor series), TCN (Zone 2 motor series) and TCI (Safe Area Made in Italy) within Senago Plant. Launch of a new aluminum ATEX motors series frame size 56.
2021 TC Series production consolidation. TCE (Zone 1), TCT3 (Zone 21&22)
