Corporate Social Responsibility

Applicability, CSR Committee and Vision

As per the provisions of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, read with rules framed there under, every company including its holding or subsidiary and a foreign company, which fulfills the criteria specified in sub-section (1) of section 135 of the Act shall comply with the provisions of Section 135 of the Act and its rules. The said provisions require the Company to undertake compliance of the provisions of the Act with respect to Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”). It is furthermore specified by MCA vide its circulars that the CSR activity in as much as possible must be conducted in the areas in the near vicinity of the company’s operations and the same should be adhered to in letter and spirit.

Marathon Electric India Private Limited has constituted a CSR Committee comprising of all the Board of Directors and Company Secretary of the Company. Company’s principal place of business is located at Faridabad, State of Haryana and its other two main operating locations are at Hyderabad, State of Telangana and Pune, State of Maharashtra from where company runs two separate STPI units. Company’s interest is to identify the projects mainly in the fields of Healthcare, Sanitation, Safe Drinking Water and Clean India Mission and Covid related activities. Company has consciously chosen not to engage any NGO/third party on its behalf to undertake CSR projects is keen to undertake the CSR activities on its own.

 

CSR Activities

In the financial year 2018-19, Company has undertaken the project with an Old Age Home and already done two rounds of CSR activity in the months of July 2018 and December 2018. This was undertaken by the company on its own without any third-party involvement.

In the financial year 2019-20, Company has made the contribution to PM Cares Fund at the time of outbreak of Covid - 19.

Subsequent to that in the financial year 2020-21, Company has done CSR activity by means of serving food to needy people and migrant workers during Covid times extending support to the local administration of Faridabad and also done mass testing at its plant of rapid antigen tests of about 600 people also qualifying as CSR expenditure.

In the current financial year 2021-22, Company has continued to serve the food to needy people during the months May and June 2021, during the peak months of second wave of Covid – 19 in support of district administration request and in co-ordination with the Faridabad chapter of Indian Red Cross Society.

Company continues to look forward to identifying and engage in the CSR projects in the nearby areas in the fields of health and nutrition, sanitation program, technical skills training etc.
